How to add your video(s) in Joomla website

There are eight steps to configure, upload and embed video(s) in Joomla website;

1. Download video player software from the Joomla Extensions Directory (JED)
2. Upload and install the video player software to your Joomla website
3. Enable and Configure the plug in
4. Change setting to permit video files e.g. FLV
5. Add a folder under the images section in Media Manager
6. Upload your video(s) into the folder (images/video)
7. Add a new article to embed the FLV video
8. Add a new menu item linking to the video article

The following are five steps to set up system which have to be done once.

1. Download video player software
• Go to the Joomla Extensions Directory (JED),Multimedia category
• Choose AllVides and download to your local drive (C:)


2. Upload and install the video player software to your Joomla website
• Log in to administrate your Joomla website
• Open Extension à Extension Manager
• Click on “Browse” and select the video player installation file
• Click on “Upload & Install” to start upload and install
Wait until successful message returned


3. Enable and Configure the plug in
• Open Extension àPlug-in Manager
• Click on the video player software
• Enable the video player software
• Go to Basic Options to change setting if require
• Click on “Save & Close” to exit


4. Change setting to permit video files e.g FLV
• Open Content à Media Manager
• Go to Option
• Type the video extension (e.g. flv and FLV) in the legal extensions (File Types) box,use comma to separate them
• Click on “Save & Close” to exit


5. Add a folder under the images section in Media Manager
• Open Content à Media Manager
• Click on “Create Folder”
• Type “videos” and click on “Create Folder”

Below steps are adding video in web page and publishing it.

1. Upload your video(s) into the folder (images/videos)
• Select the videos folder
• Click on “+Upload”
• Click on “Brower” and select the video file
• Click on “Start Upload”
Wait until successful message returned


2. Add a new article to embed the FLV video
• New article
• Type title name in Title box
• Type content in the conent area if require
• Open html editor
• Type <div>{flv}your filename{/flv}<div> in the content do not consist of extension
• Click on “Update”
• Click on “Save & Close” to exit


3. Add a new menu item linking to the video article
• Open Menus à Main Menu-- Click on “+New”
• Click on “Select” in Menu Item Type
• Select Articles and Single Articles
• Click on “Select” in Select Article
• Select your video article
• Type name in Menu Title
• Click on “Save & Close” to exit
